I flew into Bajaras Airport in Madrid on Wednesday morning. On the flight, I sat next to a young woman who looked like a member of Jersey Shore, and after talking to her, found out she was indeed, from New Jersey. Needless to say, she was very entertaining to talk to, and helped me find my way in the airport. She's out exploring Europe herself now, and I hope nothing but the best for my Snooki-like friend.
After meeting my study abroad group, we wandered around Madrid for awhile, and toured the city. Later, I went out with some friends and ate tapas and vino for dinner, followed by delicious churros con chocolate for dessert.
(Yes they were that delicious)
The next day, we visited both El Prado and La Reina Sofia museums, and I got to see the works of my two favorite artists, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. I enjoyed Picasso's El Guernica the most, and even felt very moved by its presence and symbolism.
(Can't really say the same for this one, but it has its charm)
Later that night, I went to the club Kapitol in Madrid. It was seven floors high, and had strobe lights that shot out dry ice mist to the beat of crappy US pop songs. So naturally, it was a great night.
The next day, the group moved onto Toledo, which despite being less populated than Madrid, was much more beautiful. We took a bus to the spot overlooking the city where El Greco painted the skyline:
We visited the downtown area of the city afterwords, then checked into our hotel. After a meeting with the study abroad group, I went out to dinner , and had paella for the first time. We then did some shopping, and returned for the night.
Today, I arrived at my host family's house after a good 8 hours of travel. The family is very nice and welcoming, and their apartment is conveniently located in the middle of the city. Well, I'm off to go explore Sevilla. Vamanos!
